József Kerényi was a pioneer and exemplar of one of the most powerful movements in twentieth-century Hungarian architectural history. Through his work, the concept of architectural revitalisation – the protection and preservation of built heritage through its reinterpretation and contemporary use – first appeared in Hungary.
