István Kovács is a writer, poet, literary translator, editor, historian and cultural diplomat. At the Ferenc II Rákóczi Secondary School, he studied under such distinguished teachers as Géza Bodolay [b. 1957, theatre director and translator], Béla G. Németh [1930–2007, literary historian], Zoltán Mádhy [1929–2006, literary historian and critic] and Andor Szerdahelyi [1931–2008, writer and literary critic].
