Zoltán Kovács first came to professional attention as a first-year student at the Academy of Music with Kísérőzene (lit. Accompanying Music, 1988), composed for soprano and orchestra.[1] In 1990, a studio recording of the work was made with Ingrid Kertesi and the Rádiózenekar (Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra), conducted by András Ligeti; as one of Kovács’s first major professional distinctions,
