György Ferdinandy has long been associated with those familiar literary-theoretical clichés such as ‘Western Hungarian literature’ or ‘émigré literature’. Yet the oeuvre of this author – who has been creating in Hungary again for many years – contributes far more to twentieth-century Hungarian writing than such labels can encompass.
