In the early phase of his career in Nagyvárad (Oradea), Jakobovits produced a large number of pen drawings, characterised primarily by surrealism and grotesque visions. His world of motifs is drawn from the life of the theatre and the circus: clowns, harlequins, and mannequins populate his sheets of paper. These figures can be traced back to his immediate theatrical experiences, to a world in which he had felt at home since childhood.
