Béla Kása may be regarded as the most important visual chronicler of the vanishing peasant culture and way of life. He was born in Pécs and emigrated to the Federal Republic of Germany in the summer of 1965. He was thirteen years old at the time and did not leave Hungary of his own accord, but followed his parents.
